VALERIE ROBINSON – DISTINGUISHED MOTHER of the YEAR 2017
WHY DID YOU JOIN JACK AND JILL AND WHAT MAKES THIS ORGANIZATION VALUABLE TO YOU? Why did I join Jack and Jill? FAMILY. Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron Sharpens Iron”. I wanted to spend more time with my family and at the time I joined CNJ-J&J, I owned my own retail store and spa and was working 80 hrs/wk. As I spent a lot of hours away from my family, my husband handled many of the weekend duties of dance practices and soccer games. I wanted to spend more time with my children individually because I knew that “quality time” is invaluable to the upbringing and development of children, especially when you have multiple children. My desire to spend more time with my family became reality as I made the necessary adjustments to have a healthier work-life balance. I eventually was able to couple my desire with the J&J organization of exceptional mothers who also want the best for their children. It immediately became evident that the Jack & Jill organization is a group of mothers who also share similar values as me such as understanding and knowing the importance of investing into the lives of our children spiritually, physically, and mentally. I’ve stayed in Jack and Jill because I’ve witnessed and experienced the love and support the mothers offer in times of crisis. The prayers and love CNJ-J&J has given my family, particularly in 2014 was priceless and we are grateful. I’ve seen CNJ extend that same love and support to other mothers in challenging situations. Even though we don’t always agree, we do come together for what matters most which is our family!
